Soapie superstar Belinda Emmett's battle
with breast cancer has inspired her to join the fight against the deadly
disease. Belinda has united with 'New Idea' and some of the worlds hottest
female singers to bring new hope to women who have been affected.
An exciting new CD called "HOPE" put together by 'New Idea' and BMG
Australia will help raise breast cancer awareness and research funds. The CD's
sensational line-up includes; Wendy Matthews, Shanley Del, Jenny Morris and
many more! Every artist featured on "HOPE" has in some way
been touched by breast cancer.
When Belinda recently got together with three fellow artists
Wendy, Jenny and Shanley, for a photo shoot at a Sydney studio, Belinda said
she was 'stoked' to be in the company of such outstanding vocalists.
The foursome struck and instant rapport and were soon hamming it up for the
cameras and chatting like old friends. Looking pretty in pink the girls
giggled over glasses of champagne, danced and hugged and at one stage even
burst into song with an impressive rendition of "Raindrops Keep
Falling
On My Head"." It was like spending an afternoon with
some of my best mates" Belinda said. "It was a real
thrill."
Belinda chose Michael
Jackson's "Off the Wall" to sing on the "HOPE" CD because
of it's happy vibe. "I didn't want to do a heavy, sad
song" she said. "I wanted one that reflects how I feel about life,
about not letting it get you down, and just enjoying yourself."
While Shanley Del's song "Walls" is about breaking down perceptions
and thinking in new ways. She hopes its positive message will help all
women who have been touched by cancer.
Sister Jenny Morris chose her popular number "Break in the
Weather" for the CD. "As far as research goes, any headway they make
is a breakthrough" "I think songs are a great way to reach people"
she said.
Wendy Matthews, who is currently working on a new album and a compilation
best-of selected her song "Happy" for the "HOPE" CD.
"Breast cancer has touched the lives of people I love, and in turn, all
who are involved with them". said Wendy. "I feel fortunate to
be able to lend my support in some capacity, be it in words, hope or
music.
The song 'Happy' seemed appropriate, as I believe one's mental health is so
much a part of physical health. and this song reminds us to listen to the wise
voice inside us all, that knows what we want and need."
